A.J. Krouse is a founding member of the firm and is a leading partner in the firm's mass tort and class actions practice area. Mr. Krouse has over 22 years of experience in complex civil and environmental litigation including representation of several major energy clients in state and federal class actions that include refinery explosions, railcar chemical releases, toxic tort, environmental contamination (NORM), exposure injuries, property damage, fraud, breach of contract and punitive damages.

Civil practice includes personal injury defense, premises liability, property damage and business interruption including related contractual and insurance coverage issues. Mr. Krouse has significant experience representing insurers as direct action defendants in litigation filed in Louisiana.

Products liability experience includes representation of several major manufacturers involving products such as ladders, saws, pumps, motors, valves, ink and blood products.

Employment litigation practice includes representing employers in discrimination claims for age, sex, disability, race, religion, and sexual harassment, and handling EEOC charges and other administrative complaints through the administrative and judicial process in state and federal courts. He advises clients on human resource issues and in drafting and developing employment-related agreements, along with employee policies and procedures.

Mr. Krouse is certified as a civil mediator pursuant to La. R.S. 9:4106 and listed on the 2006 Louisiana Mediator Registry. He has handled a broad array of mediations and arbitrations in a wide variety of labor and employment, commercial, liability, personal injury, health care, premises liability, class action, contract, insurance and maritime dispute matters. He has served as an arbitrator in several consumer disputes, as well as construction and securities matters. Mr. Krouse also conducts mediations of civil appeals in Louisiana. He served as a mediator in the Louisiana Department of Insurance Hurricane Mediation Program administered by AAA.

Mr. Krouse was recently added to CPR Institute's Insurance-Policyholder Coverage Panel of Distinguished Neutrals. CPR's Panels of Distinguished Neutrals comprises the most highly qualified mediators and arbitrators from throughout the world. They include prominent attorneys, retired state and federal judges, business executives, legal experts, academics, and ADR professionals who are particularly well suited to resolve significant disputes involving major corporations or issues of public sensitivity.

Before graduating from Loyola School of Law in 1984, Mr. Krouse served in the United States Army Military Police Corps and was honorably discharged as a Captain in 1981. He served as a judicial extern and law clerk U.S. District Judge A.J. McNamara, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Louisiana from 1984-1985. He is a member of the Louisiana Bar and is admitted to the practice in U.S. District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana, the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
