Current Trends in Pharmacy Litigation Presentation Frilot LLC Partner, Peter Sperling, recently spoke at the Louisiana Society of Health System’s Pharmacist’s (LSHP) Annual Meeting on May 21-May 23, 2009. His presentation, “Current Trends in Pharmacy Litigation”, addressed emerging trends in pharmacy litigation where pharmacists are a party to the lawsuit as well as where pharmacists are impacted by the outcome of the lawsuit. Using recent cases and legislative change as a forum, Mr. Sperling explored critical legal issues, provided simple tools pharmacists may use to avoid litigation and helped them to be prepared should a claim ever arise.
Mr. Sperling is a founding member of Frilot L.L.C and leads the firm’s Medical Malpractice & Healthcare section. For over 20 years, he has represented physicians in virtually every specialty, hospitals, medical schools, nurses, long-term care facilities, dentists and other healthcare providers in New Orleans and throughout Louisiana.
LSHP is a professional organization of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and related personnel practicing in organized health care settings. The Society now serves over 1000 members and is a state affiliate of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. LSHP was formed to advance public health by promoting the professional interests of pharmacists practicing in hospitals and other organized healthcare settings in the State of Louisiana and to foster rational drug use in society such as through advocating appropriate public policies toward that end.
